Entry from: Athens, Greece Entry Title: “Home of the souvlaki” Entry: “Hello everyone, Well after a taxi train, 16 hours ferry ride another 2 trains we finally made Athens. After checking in to our budget Hostel (their idea of a kitchen is a fridge and camping burner with a gas bottle) we headed to meet up with some canadians we met on the ferry. We all headed to a market square with heaps of little restaurants and places to eat (it is at the bottom of the Acropolis). We ate souvlaki for 1.70 euro each and they were beautiful. After dinner we started to walk to see the Acropolis at night and on the way it started to pour down. Tameka and I (being true tourists) wore our trendy ponchos and the canadians brought some **** bent umbrellas from some dodgey street venders for 3 euro each and we were heaps drier than them (at least we got good use of our 1 buck plastic garbage bags). So basically NO acropolis for us we all bolted home to get dry. Today (Sunday) we had a sleep in and got up to see the sights of Athens (the acropolis, the ancient agora, temple of zeus etc etc) it was pretty amazing to see all that the history books from home have in person but most of the sights are in poor conditions and are all being restored so have scaffolding all over them and in true European form it is taking over
