Entry from: Airlie Beach, Australia Entry Title: “Most Beautiful Man In the World” Entry: “Hi Everybody, Last you heard we were frolicking with all sorts of endemic Australian wildlife and having a great time on the Victorian coast. Since then we’ve done quite a bit of moving around Australia. First, we spent an absolutely wonderful week in Sydney with two of the most wonderful and welcoming (to two tired travelers) people – Matthew and Jayne, Jordan’s friends from a previous trip. Originally, we had planned to only stay in Sydney for five days, but extended to make sure we could attend the many fun activities Matthew and Jayne had planned for our enjoyment. Aside from a Sydney harbour boat ride on a friend’s converted ferry boat and a real Aussie backyard BBQ complete with homebrew, Matthew scored a few tickets to the taping of a popular Aussie tv show called “The Glass House.” Think “Who’s Line Is It Anyway” meets “The Daily Show”. Before the taping began, one of the hosts came out to the lobby to tv interview the audience for their opinion on who is the most beautiful person in the world. Jordan, when faced with this question, bright lights and a tv camera in his face, answered, “Matthew, of course…he’s right over there.” Matthew without missing a beat, said, “I’m honored, but believe it is actually

Entry from: Melbourne, Australia Entry Title: “Shop ’til you drop, then have a drink.” Entry: “Since we have done pretty much NO souvenir shopping up to this point in the trip, today seems like the right day to it, given that we only have 2 more days left in Australia! Normally, when Mario and I travel, we make it a point to have a sort of “home base”, somewhere we keep returning to where we keep some of our luggage, and it’s at this “home base” that we drop off our souvenirs during the trip, so we don’t have to travel with them for extended periods of time. This trip, we didn’t really have that “home base”. Sure, we left our extra luggage at Lesley & James’ in Melbourne, but we didn’t return there between legs of our trip. We hopped directly to Adelaide from Sydney, so anything bought in Sydney had to come with us, including on the flight, to Adelaide. So we solved this dilemma by buying very little during the course of the trip, and saving all our BIG shopping for our return to Melbourne. Thus, we were able to drop everything in the extra suitcase at Lesley & James’ at the end of the day, and we were able to get good bargains because we did most of our shopping at the Queen Victoria Market Here you can find everything from the cheapest and best Australiana souvenirs, foodstuffs, crafts, imports from

Andrew Keoghan – Secret Session at The Cullen – Prahran Australia Accommodation

  • Posted on August 5, 2011 at 2:04 am

The Cullen Rooftop was aglow with candlelight, chatter and rosy cheeks, Melbourne’s city skyline providing a twinkling back drop. An intimate crowd of 60 kicked back on bean bags, warmed their mitts with glasses of spicy mulled wine and settled in for what was a magical moment in musical time. Andrew played a 45 set including some of our favourites like I Only Have Eyes For You, Spots On The Leaves, Clean Sheets And A Fish Bowl [fitting for a sleep over at The Cullen], and one of our ultimate favourites Every Orchid Offering. Think Andrew Bird, Jeff Buckley with a splash of St Vincent. The Cullen Hotel is a boutique hotel offering dramatic and daring boutique accommodation. Located in Prahran, the bohemian heart of Melbourne Australia’s independent fashion land, the Cullen Hotel is inspired by the work of Adam Cullen. This Prahran hotel is part of the luxurious Art Series Hotel Group. The Cullen Hotel brings a unique and vibrant energy to Prahran’s Commercial Road in Melbourne.

“The rock” Simonpullen’s photos around Alice Springs, Australia

Entry from: Alice Springs, Australia Entry Title: “The rock” Entry: “What’s the first thing you think of when you think of Australia? Heat, and where would be hotter than Alice Springs in the centre of this continent. Typical, when I go there I picked a time when it was freezing! Central Australia has two seasons that of nine months of summer where it’s very, very hot and then three months of winter when it’s freezing. I had to go on the first day and buy myself and coat and a hat as I didn’t have any. Our plans for Alice Springs were a three day, two night tour of Uluru which we had booked through a hostel in Alice Springs. On the flight down to Alice Springs I was randomly selected (later I would suspect that it could no longer be random) for a swipe of my bag for drugs and explosives. I will go into this more in later blogs. I passed by the way. Spent a couple of uninspiring days in Alice Springs one which was Marie’s Therese’s birthday where was celebrated with style visiting the Flying Doctors Museum which was riveting… Went out for dinner that night in one of the few restaurants in Alice. Really not much to do in what is I suppose a normal country town. Set off before daybreak the next morning as Alice is four hours away from the Uluru area. First stop was a petrol station and campsite
