Entry from: Luleå, Sweden Entry Title: “Back to Lule” Entry: “We got the bad news, that the 9am tour of the Kiruna mine had been cancelled because there were not enough people registered. Patrick called everyone he could think of that worked in the mine, but he couldn’t come up with anyone that could let us into the mine. So, we went for a car tour of town ; it was wet and when we went up on the hill above Kiruna it was snowing — snow on Sept 1st — CRAZY! After touring the big/old state church, we went back to Patrick’s house for lunch as we needed to get on the road around noon so we would have the rental car back in Lulea by 5pm. On the way home, we stopped in Gallivare to get a look at the town — then it was hammer down to Lulea. We had about a 30min time buffer as we drove back — which I figured we would use up filling the car with gas and cleaning it. However, about 40min outside Lulea, I saw the Police lights come on behind me… there goes the time buffer. I wasn’t quite sure why they were pulling me over; I had the cruise set about 115km/hr (5km/hr over the speed limit). The trooper came to the window and after telling him I spoke English, he asked for my driver’s license; he then went back to the police car and came back with an electronic breathalyzer machine.
