Riots After Los Angeles Police Shut Down Block Party, Movie Premiere

www.politicalfailblog.com Los Angeles riot police fired bean bags at a crowd of people that refused to disperse and began throwing bottles and other objects outside a Hollywood film premiere. Officer Karen Rayner said additional officers were called to Grauman’s Chinese Theatre around 5 pm Wednesday after several hundred people, angry about a canceled event, “took over the streets.” She said officers who first responded tried to disperse the crowd, but people refused to leave and began throwing objects and vandalizing cars. Capt. Andy Smith told the Los Angeles Times the disturbance began when fans who tried to attend the premiere of a film about the Electric Daisy Carnival rave were turned away. Smith said the premiere was by invitation only, but many tried to crash the event. www.politicalfailblog.com

Kaskade’s Hollywood Block Party Near Riot – Part 5

(please see below). DJ Kaskade announced a spontaneous block party to be held before the EDC film premiere at Grauman’s Chinese Theater. The event was then cancelled due to security concerns. Despite pleas, a large part of the crowd refused to disburse causing businesses along Hollywood Boulevard to close and LAPD to come out in force. Some people just wanted to hang around, have a street party and do some shuffling. But others chose to stay for whatever reasons, so this is what happened. This video takes you from Grauman’s forecourt west down Hollywood Boulevard slightly before Sycamore Avenue. We have more footage of this event (Parts 1-4, starting from waiting inside Grauman’s courtyard) that should be uploaded in the next day or two.
