Entry from: Chiang Khong, Thailand Entry Title: “Drive to the Border” Entry: “Matt: We had initially planned to take the Green Bus (www.greenbusthailand.com) from Chiang Mai to the border town of Chiang Khong, However, the Arcade bus station, from which it leaves, is located a few kilometers outside of the city, and the bus already departs at 8.30 in the morning. So, we readily accepted the offer of our hostel to book a minibus instead, which would fetch us from our doorstep at around 10am. At 350 Baht (ca. 14.60 SGD) per person, it was more expensive than the bus (240 Baht), but at least we had a bit more time for breakfast and email checking in the morning. We were ready by 10, but of course, Thai time meant the bus wouldn’t actually turn up at our hostel until half an hour later. There was already a British couple on board, who weren’t particularly talkative or sociable, and remained relatively silent for the rest of the entire journey. Before we actually left Chiang Mai, our driver slowly picked up more and more passengers from various hostels in the city: a French guy named Olivier, an American dude, a Japanese couple (two guys), and a Spanish-speaking couple, who appeared to be from somewhere in South America. The whole procedure took more than two hours, so we weren’t actually on the way
