Surprise! There are certain items you are probably throwing into your recycling bin that cannot be recycled by your public recycling facilities. But don’t despare! There are options for recycling the following items (check out my video for all the info): 1) Plastic bottle caps 2) Printer ink cartridges 3) Batteries 4) Compact Flourescent Lightbulbs 5) Plastic bags (Yuck!) ;) I will show you how companies such as Aveda (www.aveda.com), Staples (www.staples.com), and Whole Foods (www.wholefoods.com), and Starbucks (www.starbucks.com) are doing their part to help YOU make the world a greener place!

How to Build a Plastic Bottle Boat

200 plastic bottles, 1000 plastic bags, a wooden pallet and an old tarp make a mighty fine sailboat. Single-use plastics are found throughout the marine environment – on the surface, in sediment and everywhere in between. A dozen volunteers, with hands full of materials, met in Tiburon, California to build a plastic bottle boat to bring attention to the plastic plague in the worlds oceans.

Randini performs “Broken Bottle Roulette”

A glass beer bottle is broken and the remaining bottle neck is placed, sharp side up, in a wooden block then covered with a brown paper bag. Three more empty wooden blocks are also covered with paper bags, then the bags are thoroughly mixed, first by Randini, then by a spectator (while Randini turns his back to the audience).
