SeaWorld Orlando Career Camp 2010

If you’re contemplating attending SeaWorld camp, DO IT. It was literally one of the best experiences of my life. This is from this past August, at SeaWorld Orlando. To give you just a taste of what we did, here’s a basic summary: Day One: Check in, eat dinner in the park, see Shamu Rocks, sleep in Wild Arctic exhibit by the polar bears and belugas Day Two: Clean sting ray tank, ride Manta, go behind the scenes at Manta’s aquarium, do the Sharks Deep Dive (don a wetsuit and hop in a shark cage, where the only thing between you and sharks are metal bars), feed seals and sea lions, go to hotel for the night Day Three: Go to Aquatica for the day and enjoy all of the rides and experiences, go to SeaWorld in the evening to make oyster mats for the depleting oyster beds on the Florida coastline, go to hotel Day Four: Go to Discovery Cove for the day and enjoy everything the park has to offer (Swimming in a sting ray pool, snorkeling in a tropical reef, and swimming with Atlantic Bottlenosed Dolphins!), then returning to SeaWorld in the evening to see Clyde and Seymore, participate in a sea lion training session, then return to the hotel Day Five: This day is “Trainer Day”, and is the most hectic of all the days. The day began by going to the Wild Arctic area, where we learned more about polar bears, belugas, and walruses.
