Entry from: Aconcagua, Argentina Entry Title: “Aconcagua Expedition” Entry: “At 6962 metres (22841 feet), Aconcagua is the highest mountain in the world outside of the Himalayas. It is known for it´s bitter cold, high winds and nasty storms. Roughly 30% of those who make an attmept, actually reach the summit. It is said that altitude effects on Aconcagua´s summit are similar to climbing Mount Everest with the aid of supplemental oxygen. On the ´C****eta´ (the final 400M to the summit), a climber will take 4 deep breaths for every 1 step. Frostbite, Pulmonary and Cerebral Edema are a few of the afflictions sufferred by climbers while seeking the elusive summit. Sadly, several lives are also taken by the ¨Stone Sentinel¨ each year. Sounds like a great option for three virgin mountaineers doesn´t it? We thought so! After months of research, consulting other climbers and precocious long-distance planning discussions between myself and a childhood friend and long time buddy, Oliver, we decided we would make a humble attempt at one of the great mountaineering challenges of the world. This would be the start to our trip a round the world – a nice way to ease into things!
