Socom Combined Assault TACTICS Shotgun & Pistol

Tactics review: Pistol and Shotgun combination use What both weapons lack in range, they make up for in stopping power (shotgun), and accuracy/stealth (pistol). A marksman can score a headshot with a pistol at medium range (50-75m). While a shotgun has a much more limited range, the way the shotgun is designed in Socom 3 and CA isn’t like your usual shotgun. There is not a spread effect, as multiple pellets are fired from the shell. Instead, the shotgun fires dead on its target – and if any part of the target is hit, then an emulated spread effect kicks in. Ultimately, that translates into: —Point blank, shooting between an enemies legs – nothing —Point blank, shooting an enemy in the toe – as the idiots in “Haze” would say, “BOOSH!” So basically, consider the shotgun like the desert eagle, with the disadvantage of loosing much of its damage after 12m. (So why use a shotgun, when you can just use a desert eagle?) Best answer: Options The beanbag ammo, and slug ammo add variety to the shotgun, and it instantly becomes a weapon capable of knocking down a target without killing them, or knocking down a target so you can kill them easier, or capture them (for the necessary badges). As said, the shotguns hit dead on, but loose much power after 12m. The most powerful shotgun in either game is the good ol’ Tactical 12 Guage. (Others fire more slowly, and loose power with even less range) Since the shotguns hit dead on, yes, it IS possible to nail headshots with the shotgun
