Kerry, Ireland Entry Title: “Ring of Kerry Bike Ride” Entry: “My favourite jeans now have 2 big holes in the crotch. Need I say more. This ride took Dan and I 3 days for 200+ miles. We camped when-ever and where-ever we needed along the circuit. The scenery here is absolutely spectacular! It did however rain ALL DAY on the second day, which was probably the biggest day, covering god knows how many mountain passes. Really I dont mind mountain passes on a bike with all our clothes, food, bedding and tent on our backs – just as long as I can appreciate a view at the top. Ireland obviously had other plans. At the top you couldnt even see 3 meters in front of you! Needless to say, with rain all day long (and a flat tyre) no waterproof clothing or bags are technically ‘waterproof’. At 9:30pm sunday night (monday was a public holiday) after trying in desperation to dry our clothes under the hand dryer in a little pizza restaurant in Casherveen (with no luck) we were all set to get back on the bikes in the rain to go find a campsite. Only, we just realised the bags with our ‘dry’ clothes was no longer dry, neither was the bag with the sleeping bags! To say we were a little upset was to put it mildly. Both of us couldnt stop shivering and the thought of sleeping in wet clothes in wet sleeping
